28 business and government representatives joined Magnus Carter, of Mentor Consultancy & Training, and Nordixis.com managing director Bui Tyril on 12 October to enhance their media and communication skills.
‘Media Masterclass with Magnus Carter: How to Stay Credible and Take the Drama Out of a Crisis’ took place at the Öström in the Faroese capital Tórshavn and was the second in a series of public relations courses launched one year ago.
“We were very pleased with the turnout,” Mr. Tyril said. “The fact that last year’s success was repeated this year seems to confirm that there is indeed a demand for PR education in the Faroes,” he added.
Mr. Carter, chairman and co-founder of Bristol-based Mentor Consultancy & Training and author of the book ‘Handling the Media!’ (Mentor Press 2012), offered a program that focused on media relations, issues management and crisis communication, combining lecturing with interactive exercises on and off camera.
A former journalist who is widely recognised for his insights and hands-on approach, Mr. Carter delivered a “compelling, highly informative and inspiring” presentation, according to the organisers of the one-day event.
“It is still early in the review process but so far feedback has generally been extremely positive,” Mr. Tyril said. “Judging from what we have received from delegates to date, the experience was compelling, highly informative and inspiring.”
